This Thursday evening at the City County Building on MLK Boulevard in downtown Madison the Dane County Board of Kleptomaniacs is poised to create an unelected and unaccountable Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) that will have the authority to steal money from all of us that will eventually be used to build a train for Madison and no one else.

Last spring when Jim the liar Doyle was in the process of back-dooring his crooked state budget through the cloak of night, instead of doing what was fair, just, and, right (which of course he never does) at about 2AM one morning he jammed language into the proposed state budget that would allow Dane County to form an RTA without having to bring it to the tax payers for a vote because he knows full well the opposition against it overwhelms those in favor of it. He just naturally did what all slime-ball cowards typically do and that was hide it in the budget.

Now, tomorrow evening the Dane County Board of Criminals will likely vote and pass a motion to appoint a group of like-minded dim wits that will be the RTA and able to collect and raise taxes without any accountability whatsoever. They'll have the ability to raise taxes on things like dry cleaning and real estate transactions and all kinds of un-related aspects of our daily lives in order to steal more money from us that they already do. If that's not bad enough this RTA will have the ability to take money right out of the general fund with the blessing of the rest of the Board of Kleptos.

Needless to say if there's not a show of opposition - real opposition at the meeting tomorrow night - it's over.

Please tell everyone you know to attend this meeting. We need to make a huge show to get this RTA BS, which is nothing more than an act of larceny stopped.

Are you that curly-haired guy that sat next to Bill Richardson at the Stoughton public information meeting? The one who quite clearly stated he wanted to move all the development outside of Madison (and destroy the downtown culture for everyone in the county) in order to make it easier to build more roads?

Based on what I have heard out of you, and from others at the Stoughton session, what is going to happen is a lot of you are going to take three minutes, call the train stupid, speculate about the intentions of RTA supporters, yell at other speakers who are in support of the RTA and generally make asses out of yourselves. Then, the county board, with no additional facts in front of them to convince them otherwise, will vote to create an RTA. Then you all can go sulk on talk radio the next day and whine about how this all is being forced down your throats and further speculate about the evil intentions of RTA supporters.

On the other hand, you could all grow up, and actually look at the facts about how RTA's have worked elsewhere, when and why rail is an efficient alternative in some areas, and when bus service is more effective. You might actually be able to shape the outcome to produce a better result.

The choice is yours, DaneGOP'ers: Rant Thursday, Whine Friday and let the Liberals steamroll you, or make a solid fact-based case on Thursday, and claim to have made Dane County better for everyone on Friday.

And what do you call the DOT? How accountable is IT to voters in Dane County?

I don't know, Clyde. Maybe the RTA kleptos will build big black helicopters and come to YOUR HOUSE and steal your precious bodily fluids. If you clench your teeth and hold your fillings together, you can tune in on their frequency. Clench, Clyde clench!

Hey Yucca:

What's with this blind faith in goverment you're all about? Why are you OK with an un-elected and non-accountable taxing authority? What's up with that?

Why are you OK with a non-accountable taxing authority being able to raise taxes in order to pay for things no one will use?

Ever ask yourself who are the people most dependent on public Transportation in Dane County, or even the City of Madison for that matter? Ever ask yourself where do the people that depend most on public transportation live in Dane County or even in Madison, for that matter?

Do they live along the commuter train line between Middleton and the Madison Airport, as is being proposed?

Does it make any kind of sense to suspend bus service along the would-be train line and force the people that are actually dependent on public transportation and won't be using the train because they live nowhere near the one train line to double their trip time length at the expense of choice riders?

I'd ask if you'd ever heard the term "taxation with out representation?" but since you're not able to go to the toilet without someone from or something in government assisting you you're clearly the wrong one to ask.

Must be tough always being so damn dependent on goverment and having someone else always doing everything for you all the time. I bet it gets rather boring.

But hey, what do you care? After all. it's someone else's money.

Opponents warned the board not to authorize an unaccountable, unelected board that could raise a sales tax without voter approval. Representatives from affected towns were concerned they wouldn't have representation on the RTA board.

And yet that is exactly what the county did....

I use Madison Metro on a daily basis and I'm not exactly jumping for joy at the formation of the RTA. Here's why:

First of all, I'm at a loss as to what the value of a choo-choo train that goes from Sun Prairie to Middleton is. I can see the value of commuter busses that run to/from Madison to places like Sun Prairie, Stoughton, Cross Plains, Mt. Horeb, etc. I can see the value of running busses into the industrial parks in Sun Prairie, Stoughton, Verona and Waunakee. But a commuter train? Nope. We already have busses and roads to run the busses on, so let's use them.

Further more, let's get rid of the transfer points: they're little more than hang-outs for gang wannabes. Let's investigate the value of express busses during rush hours to Downtown/UW. Sh*t, let's add a lane to each side of the Beltline and four-lane Highway M from Waunakee to Middleton.
