Much of the shortage stems from a shortsighted decision by the Obama administration. Shortly after taking office, the White House ordered the Department of Defense to use a regulatory provision to change the manner in which the Department of Defense recycles spent ammunition.
The Department of Defense is the single largest consumer of small arms ammunition in the US. When a pistol or rifle round is expended, it leaves behind the brass casing. Previously, spent shell casings from used ammunition were recycled whole by selling them to scrappers who would process the casings, and repack them with new rounds. Thus, the shell casing would remain in use as a shell casing. This makes for cheaper replacement rounds.
Now, the DOD requires the scrappers to shred the casings so that they must be melted down and reforged for use. No rational explanation has been provided about how the nation is better served with this requirement (other than to make small arm ammunition more expensive).
Just another example of how this Administration's policies make us all economically poorer. We are all worse off for needlessly destroying valuable assets. Just like the ill-fated cash-for-clunckers program.

That's a pretty broad statement. You wanna put some qualifiers on it or you gonna stick by htis orginal claim?
You can own a gun if you want.
Are you talking about "a gun" or "any gun"?
I know that Obama supports restricting how many guns a person can own....what is your stance on that?
I don't own guns and never will and I feel perfectly safe.
If you feel "perfectly safe" then why do you get upset/uptight when people make reference on these forums to your actual name and other info?
But I don't deny the right of others to own them.
You used to be in favor of the assualt weapon ban. What made you change your mind on that?

| Several posters claim that guns haven't been taken away - I wonder how those many many gun owners in New Orleans feel; those trying to protect their property when they were man-handled and forced to give up their guns. Since then, many states have stepped in and passed legislation to prevent the same situation from happening in their states. Guns being taken away? Just pray that it doesn't ever happen. With a a large government controlled military, and unarmed citizens, how long do you think this will be "America land of the Free?"

Do you really believe an armed citizenry could go toe-to-toe with our military? Even a gun nut with an extremely well equipped arsenal couldn't hold off tanks or attack helicopters.

I beleive an armed citizenry could do it a hell of a lot better than an unarmed citzenry could.
Even a gun nut with an extremely well equipped arsenal couldn't hold off tanks or attack helicopters.

You sound just like the Tories telling Washington that there is no way he could stand up to the might of the British Empire. Good thing people didn't take your advice back then. Honestly, this whole "You don't need any guns 'cause you'll get beat anyways" claim is one of the most lamest I've ever heard come from the ProBan crowd. It reeks of desperation and naiveness....

Roll your eyes all you want, but the resistance in Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam was organized and their fighters have been combat ready for many years. And they had rocket launchers. The typical gun nut, not so much.

And where governments have taken the steps to disarm their citizens, freedoms and rights - such as those covered by our Constitution and the Bill of Rights - slowly disappear. And it doesn't stop with guns. Some stories I've seen mention that England and Australia might be considering banning all knifes, not just switch blades and those over 4 inches in length. Imagine, cutting your steak with a spoon. What's next; forks? Hummmmm.

GOD created woman. But that's it! GOD didn't create a third sex!

representing a perverted combination of both the male and female combined!
We must purge the source of sin and the first step begins with each and

A spork is nothing more than a dining utensil of SATAN. If you have
these evil tools in your house, throw them away. Or better yet, BURN
