Jack Clubb/Bob Arctor/Roy Cohn died on May 1st of a naso pharangeal tumor. He had a bad time of it getting double doeses of chemo plus radiation.

There were 2 memorials for Bob Arctor in May. One was a more traditional one with his family and friends speaking and reminiscing about him. His mother and brother were there and talked to everyone. The parking lot was full of Union cabs. There was a slide show before the service - showing Jack throughout his life, as a big brother and on up to his recent years.

There was another memorial which was a cookout. I didn't attend that, but heard it was fun - it lasted all night.

He had 2 blogs the Post section - Shadowboxing the Apocalypse and Standing in the Shadows.

Of course Bob/Jack was best known for his graphics. So here are some:

Bob Arctor and I tangled quite frequently way back. He and I reached consensus and got to be quite aligned in the forums. I hadn't heard from him lately and was concerned.

It is sad, though, that a great conservative gets remembered by the ilks of Bennet Masel. I would be wrong to not take the step and mention that I will spit on Masel if I ever see him in person. Long live, Scoop Jackson.

Live on, Bob Arctor.

I miss Jack and regret a lot of things about his early passing.

He was a huge fan of comics, particularly Watchmen. His avatar was an image of Rorschach. I wish he could have seen the movie that came out. I thought it captured well what he enjoyed most about the theme.

This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll whisper "no."

Never compromise. Not even in the face of Armageddon.

I won't ever forget about Jack. It's nice to see his face in this thread.

Bob was a patriot and objected to bad government. He was conservative in that he did believe in limited government.

As much as he and I despised George Bush, he and I believed in integrity. Therefore, one would not spit in the face of another.

No, SENATOR Jackson did not deserve that. A putz, whose claim to fame is violating laws, is no judge. You beat someone on the basketball court, at the ballot box or in a space race. Not by demeaning yourself in a blatant show of boorishness and lack of class.

Rorschach

This was a hand-drawn portrait of Jack

Bob/Jack was not a conservative in any way.

As much as he and I despised George Bush, he and I believed in integrity. Therefore, one would not spit in the face of another.

Ben was Jack's best friend. Jack would generally stay in the background, taking photos, etc. and then bail Ben out of jail, if needed. He believed in the right to express oneself.

Scoop Jackson wanted increased spending on National defense, and especially the ABM. While Eisenhower was talking about the military industrial complex and the need to spend less money on weapons and instead spend it one schools. Jackson was opposing him.

Well, add me to the list of folks who will miss his posts. He was another well-informed and thoughtful forum contributor - though like everyone else, fundamentally incorrect sometimes
