I just wanted to add on to this thread about jhml. Oh well, that thread is now gone.
I went to his memorial at the Gates of Heaven synagogue next to James Madison park. And although he was known as a conservative on the forums, there were people from all political sides there. The place was packed, and there were people of all colors and ages. It was hosted by Dr. Zorba Pastor, who was jhml's doctor and friend. Dr. Pastor is definitely liberal and he had a funny story about when he and John first met. There were others with stories, most of them funny. Including from his brother Jim. Both of his sons were there. They looked very upset of course.
After the service there was a reception, with lots of good food. I went and talked to jhml's widow. She was thrilled that someone from the forums was there. She said he enjoyed posting there and she was glad he had them to keep him occupied. When I said something about him being a nice person, she bristled and said he often made her feel like she was on the witness stand. I told her he did the same to many of us on the forums. Oh, and Beaker was not there, he couldn't make it.
Here's an article about jhml on another site that he used to post on.

If Beaker had come I could have brought my dog and they could have hung out together. No doubt they would have ended up having some political discussion, like whether there should be Universal Vet care.
Doesn't the VA already provide that?

Genie (8/31/2009) Jhml would really like your photos of Kennedy that you posted though. I think he may have posted the same ones at one time.
I still think JHML is short for some sort of hypertext markup language.
My favorite JHML memory is a thread he started to complain about the politicization of the Iraq war. I replied by quoting von Clausewitz.
If I had photoshop or one of it's clones, I'd be tempred to shop Teddy's head on a picture of Harry Potter on a broom and caption it "Chappa-Quidditch". What I posted on the other forum was OK, but not what I wanted. So it goes.

So, I herd U liek mmm...mmm...mmm...Mudkipz.

| Genie, thanks for bringing JHML's memory to the new forum. I have to admit, the first thing I thought when I came to the new forum was, "now we've lost all the worthy material posted by jhml." Next time I find some good piece of global warming contrarianism, I'll have to post it here for his sake.

Still trying to win an argument with the deceased, Genie?
"Jhml was always posting about how we had won in Iraq."

"“And so I want to be very clear: We sent our troops to Iraq to do away with Saddam Hussein’s regime – and you got the job done.” "
"“We kept our troops in Iraq to help establish a sovereign government – and you got the job done.”
"“And we will leave the Iraqi people with a hard-earned opportunity to live a better life – that is your achievement; that is the prospect that you have made possible.”
President Obama at Camp Lejeune Feb. 2009

While JHML was politely explaining reality, genie was claiming the surge had made Muqtada al-Sadr stronger and toppling Saddam made Iran more powerful.
What made JHML a class act was the fact that he discussed the subject at hand, rather than discussing those discussing it.
Don't you wish that you had as much class?
