Last spring when Jim the liar Doyle was in the process of back-dooring his crooked state budget through the cloak of night, instead of doing what was fair, just, and, right (which of course he never does) at about 2AM one morning he jammed language into the proposed state budget that would allow Dane County to form an RTA without having to bring it to the tax payers for a vote because he knows full well the opposition against it overwhelms those in favor of it. He just naturally did what all slime-ball cowards typically do and that was hide it in the budget. Now, tomorrow evening the Dane County Board of Criminals will likely vote and pass a motion to appoint a group of like-minded dim wits that will be the RTA and able to collect and raise taxes without any accountability whatsoever. They'll have the ability to raise taxes on things like dry cleaning and real estate transactions and all kinds of un-related aspects of our daily lives in order to steal more money from us that they already do. If that's not bad enough this RTA will have the ability to take money right out of the general fund with the blessing of the rest of the Board of Kleptos.Needless to say if there's not a show of opposition - real opposition at the meeting tomorrow night - it's over. Please tell everyone you know to attend this meeting. We need to make a huge show to get this RTA BS, which is nothing more than an act of larceny stopped.

Stop the Shopper!

Can we all agree that the Shopper needs an unsubscribe button? It was barely tolerable when it was filling our mailboxes two or three times a week, but now they are being delivered around the neighborhood by men who throw them in PLASTIC bags out of their van window? What a disgrace!! Madison is better than this! The Shopper itself is a waste of paper but the plastic bags and gasoline run vans have pushed me over the edge. If you google the Shopper you will see there are many angry recipients of this waste of paper. I spoke to someone one time that said he liked the Shopper, and that's great, but for the rest of us, we'd like to unsubscribe....today. Shame on you....wasting paper, plastic bags, and gas. How is this not littering?

Are you with me?

Anyone See Air Force One?

It's got to be quite a sight to see that plane flying in. I looked up and down the street last night and there were only a handful of houses with lights on, in fact the only ones were those with little kids. The rest of the street was dark. I went out at about 7 and except for a few places all the streets were dark too. I saw a few kids hanging around and that was it. Anyone have other experiences?

Ah...the good old days! (A bit of Madison nostalgia)

I've lived in Madison my whole life so I'm very aware of just how much Madison has changed over the years. Now, I won't deny that some of the changes have been necessary and positive, but I can't help but feel a little nostalgic about the good old days in Mad City. So, for all the true Madisonians and long-time residents, I thought I'd start a thread to reminisce about "the way things used to be". I know, I know - it makes me sound really old, but it's hard not to think about these things when I see all the new developments and changes around town.

So...do you remember when...

•	Warner Park was a dump (landfill)?
•	city buses were named after streets?
•	MATC downtown was Madison Central High?
•	when cars could drive on State Street?
•	when you could swim in Madison lakes w/o fear of algae and other pollutants?
•	when we had 2 drive-ins: the Badger Outdoor and Big Sky?
•	the A&W drive-in on E. Wash? They'd set your food tray on your car window!

What else has changed in Madison over the years? Do you remember the good old days? Come on, Madisonians - reminisce with me!

Overhead at the zoo

Mother to young son: The sign says that polar bears are carnivores. Fortunately there was no damage, but it was rather startling. Is this Verizon's idea of good consumer relations, placing the convenience of there delivery people above the right of their customers to feel safe and secure in their homes?

Is this yet another example of the arrogance of corporate america running roughshod over the people they derive their livelihood from? It's certainly a disincentive to do business with Verizon in the future.

One can't help but wonder what would have happened if the window had been broken. Would Verizon have claimed that the mouth breathing knuckle draggers hired to deliver the phone books are independent contractors and thus try to duck responsibility? I strongly suspect this would be the case.

Ordinarily, someone who wanders around a neighborhood throwing things at people's windows would be arrested. Why are the deliverers of phone books exempt?

Bob Arctor (Jack Clubb)

Jack Clubb/Bob Arctor/Roy Cohn died on May 1st of a naso pharangeal tumor. He had a bad time of it getting double doeses of chemo plus radiation. There were 2 memorials for Bob Arctor in May. One was a more traditional one with his family and friends speaking and reminiscing about him. His mother and brother were there and talked to everyone. The parking lot was full of Union cabs. There was a slide show before the service - showing Jack throughout his life, as a big brother and on up to his recent years. There was another memorial which was a cookout. I didn't attend that, but heard it was fun - it lasted all night. He had 2 blogs the Post section - Shadowboxing the Apocalypse and Standing in the Shadows.Of course Bob/Jack was best known for his graphics. So here are some:
